A Winter Celebration of Culture, Art and International Joy
Since 2015, Marmaris Municipality has proudly hosted the Marmaris New Year Festival, transforming the traditional year-end celebration into one of Türkiye's most vibrant and culturally rich seasonal festivities. What began as a local holiday event has evolved into a large-scale international festival that brings together music, art, cultural exchange and community spirit over an extended period, engaging both residents and global visitors alike.
Held annually from late November through to New Year's Eve, the festival turns Marmaris into a lively cultural stage that defies the conventional notion of winter quietude. Rather than a single night's celebration, Marmaris New Year Festival offers a month-long program of concerts, folkloric performances, workshops, exhibitions, street markets and interactive events — making Marmaris a winter destination filled with activity, creativity and cultural engagement.
The festival's program features a wide range of experiences, including live music concerts and gala performances, DJ sets and multimedia shows, traditional and contemporary folk dance showcases, artisan markets offering crafts, gifts and seasonal delights, creative workshops and family-oriented activities, cultural exhibitions representing local and international heritage, and sailing regattas and maritime celebrations on the water.
With its inclusive theme of "Meeting of Cultures", the festival not only celebrates the spirit of the New Year, but also highlights Marmaris' role as a crossroads of global traditions and intercultural dialogue. Through collaborations with cultural organizations, artistic groups and international performers, the event has welcomed music ensembles, dance troupes and creative talents from diverse regions — strengthening Marmaris' cultural profile on a global scale.
The festival's venues span from the iconic 19 Mayis Youth Square and Atatürk Street to the Marmaris Culture and Arts House and waterfront spaces, creating a festive landscape that blends public spaces with artistic engagement. Evening concerts, street parades, artisan bazaars and illuminated installations fill the city with warmth and excitement throughout the entire winter season.
By extending the tourism calendar beyond the summer season, Marmaris New Year Festival plays a key role in supporting local businesses, hospitality services, cultural organizations and the wider community. It attracts domestic and international visitors, enhances cultural exchange, and positions Marmaris not just as a summer destination, but as a year-round center for celebration, creativity and connection.
